10 Best Dressed Rockers of All Time

The legacy of music on clothing is not to be denied. Most of these guys (and lady) are gone, but their style echoes through the ages. Their songs, presence, and clothes will forever stay with us. The following is a list of the musicians who had some ‘flava’ and could pull it off too!

Keith Moon

Keith killed more drum sets than he had time to play on. Spoken of as one of the best drummers of all time, he played with passion and animalistic flair. Moon joined The Who in the spring of 64’. Upon their first meeting it is quoted that Townshend described him as, “a ginger man with ginger looking clothes and hair dyed ginger.”

Sid Vicious

Being one of the pioneers of punk, Simon Ritchie was most definitely a colorful character. Sid was the paragon punk rocker who personified the style of punk. Living and dying amidst a shroud of mystique he will be forever remembered for his presence and attitude.

Rick James

No one can say Rick did not have a sense of savoir fare. Immortalized by his music and comedy sketch on Dave Chappelle, we will never forget the man who lived the mantra, ‘party like a rock star.’ James had multi success of his own and had a hand in others. As long as there are those who will don the oiled curls and skin tight leather, the style of the ‘super freak’ will live on!

Joey Ramone

Joey’s polish was as big as he stood tall (six feet eight inches). Growing up a fan of rock (The Who being one of his most loved bands) Joey started out as the drummer of the Ramones. His momentous aura could not be hidden behind a kit or those trademark shades and he quickly moved to vocals. Maybe the only other icon that could ‘rock’ the leather jacket like Joey would be James Dean.

Janis Joplin

Not many soulful voices can bring tears to our eyes but Janis sounded her pipes with the same charisma as she wore her threads. Janis Lyn Joplin died at the early age of 27 and ashes scattered in the Pacific Ocean ensuring her remains will forever circulate as her sounds.

Kurt Cobain

Smells Like Teen Spirit encapsulated the voice of a generation of discontented youth. His taste was just as unmatched as his sagacious lyrics. Once quoted as saying, “Famous is the last thing I wanted to be,” that is the only thing Kurt failed in doing. Nirvana spawned a new ideology and genre of grunge music. His lyrics were the thoughts of every young person of his time.

George Harrison

An integral piece of the ‘fab four,’ Harrison was a colt of style. Deemed the ‘darkhorse’ by some because of the popularity of John and Paul, Harrison may have been the most talented and multi faceted musician of the Beatles. Known for rubbing elbows with good friend Bob Dylan and spiritual advisor Ravi Shankar, Harrison will always be well respected for his musical innovation.

John Bonham

Most likely the best drummer of all time, John Bonham’s charm resounded louder than the sound of his skins. Bonzo never let his fame go to his already maniacal head. Known for lunacy behind and away from the drums, Bonham liked to complement that side with that of an English farmer. Most known for his hard hitting style, he is most often not recognized for the extreme versatility he possessed.

Jimi Hendrix

The picture tells all about his style and it would be most convenient to listen to his sound to be able to articulate his music. The most gifted human to ever lay a hand on the guitar, we are left thinking what could have been if he stuck around longer. The mystery of his death follows suit with that of what could have been.

Bob Dylan

Robert Allen Zimmerman is a living legend. There are no notable musicians that can deny Dylan has influenced their sense of style, music, and lyrics in some way, shape, or form. He has constantly evolved with the times, yet keeping ahead of them somehow.
